The Brij Raj Bhavan Palace : Where Night Guards Can't close eyes

We’ve already told you about Kuldhara, Rajasthan. Well! Now we have another spooky place to talk about, again in Rajasthan. But, this time a little bit royal and majestic.

Brij Raj Bhawan Palace is situated in Kota, Rajasthan. The palace was built in 1830 for British officials, who had been serving for the British Crown in India. The palace lies on the banks of River Chambal and has peaceful surroundings. It later became the State guesthouse of Kotah in 1900 A.D.

With vintage architecture and stateliness, beautifully furnished rooms, lawns, regal décor and gardens from the 18th - 19th century this palace is a great piece of colonial-style architecture from the British era. Its beautiful surroundings became more beautiful as well as scary, especially at night.

However, by looking at it nobody can tell, that the heritage Brij Raj Bhawan Palace is a haunted site, but Yes! It is.

Story behind

There is a ghost story which attracts tourists, a friendly ghost of Major Charles Burton. He was an English officer who lived with his 2 sons in the palace and was killed by Indian sepoys in the mutiny of 1857 in this said to stroll on the property. Even though his spirit does not really harm anyone.

Rumour has it that guards working here often heard a sound instructing them to not fall asleep and if they do on duty the ghost slaps them to wake them up. Major Burton’s ghost occasionally slaps the guards who sleep on duty.

However, nobody has get hurt, sometimes the guest of the hotel complained about some sudden paranormal activities in some parts of the palace.
