Manali - Home to Saga Manu (The Indian Noah)


Manali,
a small town surrounded by hills with around 8,000 population, located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated in the northern part of Himachal Pradesh, at the end of the Kullu Valley (also the second must-visit place). Roughly 270 kilometres north of the state capital of Shimla and 338 mi away from the national capital of Delhi.

Manali is indeed a beautiful destination for people willing to live in a peaceful place while adoring the breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountain range. Partially clouded in summer with cool weather for the entire year, almost every month of the year attracts tourists. However, some people prefer to visit come here only in winter. History

According to Indian Mythology, Saga “Manu”- the creator of Manusmriti (Law of Manu) is to believed stepped off his ark after the great flood and recreated the human race. Therefore they built a temple devoted to “Manu”. It is believed to one and only temple of Saga Manu in the Indian sub-continent.

The second Hindu Temple which fascinates tourists the most is Hidimba Devi Temple, well worshipped by locals as Dhungari Temple. This temple is dedicated to the wife of the strongest Pandava Bhima among one of the five Pandavas. Hidimba met Bhima during the exile period of Pandavas, when he encountered her Brother "Hidimb" and killed him. She had vowed to marry whoever defeat his brother. This temple is built near a cave where it is believed she performed sadhana. Most part of the temple is built from wood, and animal sculpture and dancer figures were also carved on the walls and gates of the temple.

Manali attracts every year thousands of adventure travellers, with a number of adventure activities like skiing, hiking, mountaineering and river rafting. Fenced by the Himalayas, Manali is home to a dense forest and rivers which gives you a chance to explore nature as well.
